Kathleen Jamie on Sightlines and Scottish Heritage

Last month, New York celebrated Scottish culture during Tartan Week, a festival of parades and exhibits organized by the British Consulate General. Among other artists of Scottish affiliation, Kathleen Jamie is featured in this interview discussing her work on Sightlines—what lead her to write it, and a bit of her process that she feels was invigorated by her Scottish heritage. For a deeper look at some of the topics Jamie discusses here, be sure to check out her interview featured in the Eighth Volume of The Scottish Review of Books.

Kathleen Jamie’s Sightlines is the recent recipient of the 2014 Orion Book Award for Non-Fiction, as well as the 2014 John Burroughs Medal.
