Maria Golia has been a resident of Cairo for nearly thirty years. She is a social commentator for a variety of publications including the New Internationalist, Vogue, the International Herald Tribune, and the New Statesman, and was previously a speechwriter for Egypt’s first family. She is the author of many diverse nonfiction books on Egypt, including Cairo: City of SandPhotography and Egypt, and A Short History of Tomb-Raiding.
