Discovering a Nazi Legacy: One Family’s Story (Pikesville, MD)

February 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free

Jennifer Teege is the author of My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: A Black Woman Discovers Her Family’s Nazi Past. This best-selling memoir details Teege’s shocking discovery that she is a descendant of the brutal Nazi commandant of Plaszow portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in Schindler’s List. The daughter of a German mother and Nigerian father, she was placed in a children’s home when she was four weeks old and was in her late 30s when she first learned of her family’s complex history.

Teege and a Museum historian will explore what she has learned from firsthand conversations with survivors who suffered the brutality of her grandfather and how these crimes continue to shape our understanding of hatred and violence today. Signing immediately after the program.
